Critics Consensus

A smart, oddball take on found-footage horror, Creep is clever and well-acted enough to keep viewers on the edges of their seats.

Creep (2014) | Rotten Tomatoes (1) Jason Bailey Flavorwire Within its commercial framework, they're taking real chances - and 'Creep' is, in many ways, a puzzling character study in a found-footage horror movie's clothing. May 27, 2016 Full Review Creep (2014) | Rotten Tomatoes (2) Simon Abrams Village Voice Duplass's fantastically unhinged performance establishes what Brice fails to convey ... Sep 2, 2015 Full Review Creep (2014) | Rotten Tomatoes (3) Andy Webster New York Times The film is remarkable, considering its minimal means and surprising lack of bloodshed, given the genre. Does it stay with you? A little. Sep 1, 2015 Full Review Creep (2014) | Rotten Tomatoes (4) Jeffrey M. Anderson Common Sense Media It was obviously inspired by other two-hander horror thrillers, but this micro-budget, no-frills wonder gets the job done spectacularly, generating suspense through human behavior and threat. Rated: 4/5 Jun 4, 2024 Full Review Creep (2014) | Rotten Tomatoes (5) Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review It’s among the funniest and scariest horror-comedies of this century, blending mumblegore independence with a found footage aesthetic to create a destabilizing, unforgettable experience. Rated: 4/4 Oct 26, 2023 Full Review Creep (2014) | Rotten Tomatoes (6) Patrick Cavanaugh The Wolfman Cometh Anchored entirely by the likability of Duplass, one of the few horror-comedies that will keep you questioning the authenticity of whether to be disturbed or delighted by what you're seeing unfold. Mohammed I One of the worst films I have ever watched in my entire life. Honestly I could make a better film. All it was some random phone camera or whatever it was. I could do the same. And the plot was just boring. Rated 1/5 Stars • Rated 1 out of 5 stars 05/26/24 Full Review Justin T I really did not like this film for so many reasons. For starters, it is a post-Blair Witch Project (1999) found-footage style film with little imagination or anything to make it stand out from so many similar movies. For seconds, it is not a patch on Creep (2004) which isn’t the best film in the first place. The main character is a man-child and that gets really annoying really quickly. I would be embarrassed if he were my dad. The film is boring with bad pacing. The jump-scares are forced in and did not make me jump at all. I really wonder how and why on earth they made a sequel. Towards the end of the film it becomes legitimately stupid. If I had to compare it to anything then it would be The Last Broadcast (1998), but that film is significantly better and more original. Rated 1/5 Stars • Rated 1 out of 5 stars 05/16/24 Full Review Five Word R The tension building is amazing. Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/30/24 Full Review Nick N Most original entertaining dark comedy horror movie I’ve ever seen. Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/28/24 Full Review Catherine F good movie...wish they porked tho :/ Rated 4.5/5 Stars • Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/28/24 Full Review Jason E Highly recommend for horror fans, very refreshing film in an increasingly stale genre.
