FAQs References

Wanna feel ancient? Bratz dolls are old enough to be in college. That’s right — in 2021, Bratz dolls will turn 20 years old! When they originally came onto the scene in 2001, many parents worked themselves into a bit of a tizzy. Between the funky hair, the bold make-up, and their sassy clothes, they were the type of toys some parents didn’t want their children anywhere near. But that, as expected, made them all the more popular. While Barbie was prim, proper, and the epitome of wholesomeness, Bratz looks like, well, brats. Critics argued that the dolls weren’t appropriate role models for kids. Then again, they were just dolls, right? Perhaps a passing phase? Think again! These dolls have become a part of pop culture. An entire generation has grown up playing with them. In a few years, they may even introduce them to their own kids. So, this feels like as good a time as any to brush up on some Bratz dolls names.

But first, let’s have a quick history lesson. In 2001, little girls across the globe were introduced to Bratz dolls core four characters: Yasmin, Cloe, Jade, and Sasha. Even their names sounded cooler than ours. During that first run, in 2001 and 2002, they went to the beach and had a “Funk ‘N’ Glow” line. Later, we even met a fifth friend in that first edition, Meygan. (Because why be Megan or Meghan when you can be Meygan?!) Along the way, more dolls with unique looks and characteristics were introduced. We met girls like Kumi, May-Lin, and Tiana, from the “Tokyo A Go-Go” edition. And we first laid eyes on the super-popular twins, Phoebe and Roxxi. That brings us up to the year 2003. By 2004, we even noticed when the Wild Life Safari campaign ran and didn’t include the original mix of characters. Instead, Cloe and Yasmin went on an adventure with relative newcomers to the Bratz line: Fianna, Meygan, and Nevra. By the time the Bratz’ dolls reign came to a pause in 2015, we’d met around 100 characters, including brothers and boyfriends in the Boyz line.

While their obstinate expressions never changed, our hearts certainly did. Over time, we all warmed up to these fierce and fabulous dolls. You could also probably thank Bratz for the new era of Barbie. Now there are “Extra” dolls with styles just as wild as Bratz dolls, and the fashionistas come in more skin tones, hair types, and body types than any other doll on the market. Say what you want about Bratz, but they might have helped pave the way for inclusivity. Can you name all of them? Here’s a refresher! Look at some of the characters (and wild names) Bratz brought us during its first decade.

What are the rarest Bratz dolls?

Surprisingly, the rarest twins aren’t one of the original Bratz girls. They’re actually the twins, Alek and Zack, and Twiins Krysta and Lela. Bunny Yasmin and Bunny Cloe are also hard to come across. Live in Concert Nevra and Jade, and Treasures Sasha and Jade are also difficult to find.
