Reading days are offered by the University as an opportunity for students to take a break from classes and catch up on studying .

How many weeks are in the UvA semester?

At the UvA, the academic year is split into two semesters of three periods each. Periods a and b of each semester are "lecture periods", period c is a "project period". Lecture periods consist of seven weeks of classes followed by an exam week; project periods are four weeks long .

What is a passing grade at UVA?

“A”, “B”, “C”, and “D” represent passing grades in order from the highest to the lowest. Passing grades may also be recorded with a plus or minus. “F” represents failure. Official grade reports are made available to the student within two weeks after the close of each semester on the student portal.

Does UvA look at semester grades?

Remember that Regular Decision applicants will have grades from the first semester of senior year in their files before we finalize our decisions.

Reading week is a week in terms one and two where students from most courses are taken off of timetabled lectures/ tutorials to be given the opportunity to engage in relevant readings for their modules . During term one reading week is scheduled in early november, in term two it is in february.

Residency Match Day is an annual, nationwide event, when students find out where they will spend the next 3-7 years of their lives .
